One of the important things you could do is to get rid of the preview pane in your
outlook express.
The reason to omit the preview pane, is because when you are downloading your e-mail,
and it is showing down below in the preview pane, it is all ready open. you didn't open it,
so your thinking you didn't run anything that could be in the e-mail, thus no Virus could run. But that's where your thinking wrong.
A Virus Does not always come as an attachment...
Below you will find step by step instructions on how to get rid of the preview pane.
First Click on View
Then Click on Layout
Then Uncheck Mark show preview pane
After you have gotten this done, all you will see will be the headers of the e-mails. Then if you see an e-mail that does not look right to you, just delete it. But to open your e-mail now, all you have to do is double click on the e-mail and it will open up in a new window. Should it happen to have a virus in it Hopefully you have some anti-virus software that has been updated on a regular bases, and it will detect it right away. If you don't have any anti-virus software on your computer, you can download a 30 day trial version from Norton's website.
